Backend Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to build and maintain the APIs and data pipelines that power the Business Quest platform. You will work on services that carry assessment data, reporting and client records for UK SMEs.

You will collaborate on system architecture decisions, improve reliability and observability, and help the team ship features that handle high volumes of daily requests without drama.

What You'll Do

• Design, build and maintain scalable services and data pipelines in Go.
• Own the reliability, observability and performance of the services you ship.
• Collaborate with product and design on architecture and API design decisions.
• Review code, improve engineering standards and mentor other engineers.
• Support incident response and continuous improvement of deployment pipelines.

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience in a production environment.
• Strong Go (or comparable systems language) and relational database skills.
• Experience designing and consuming well-structured REST or RPC APIs.
• Comfortable with cloud infrastructure, containers and CI/CD pipelines.
• Clear written communication suited to a remote, distributed team.
